When I say I make small batch candles
I mean I make them 6 at a time
in my tiny, in-home studio in Asheville, NC. I also have a small space in Brooklyn where I make candles for local New York stores and markets.
My passion for scent blending and candle-making began during a snowy Brooklyn blizzard in 2013. Once I started I just HAD to perfect this art of candle/wick/wax ratios and blending the perfect scents. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to make one for each and every guest at my wedding. They were a hit!
It’s wild over here
but candles are my absolute “happy quiet place,” and as anyone who has ever burned an Ashby Candle knows, they are a comfort, a pleasure, and a true labor of love.
Our new Asheville home allows us to maintain our small-batch philosophy while producing about 1,000 candles per year. I juggle this with life as a working mom to two energetic boys, all while laying the groundwork for our future homestead. This mountain lifestyle infuses our candles with a spirit that's uniquely Appalachian - a little bit wild, a whole lot wonderful.
